What to do in Chamonix during October half-term?
A vibrant mountain town
Wander through the streets of the town centre, browse its boutiques, discover local specialities or settle down on a terrace overlooking the peaks. From tempting restaurants and shops to Alpine heritage and culture, Chamonix is a pleasure to explore at your own pace.

Head for the heights
In Chamonix, the peaks are never far away. From the town centre, the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you high above the valley to its summit terrace at 3,842 metres. Up here, the panorama takes on a whole new dimension, while the more adventurous can step into the famous Step into the Void.
Another must-see in the valley is the legendary Montenvers rack railway, which takes you to the Mer de Glace for the chance to discover one of Chamonix’s most iconic landscapes.
