In the southeast of the Aravis massif, the ski resort of Manigod stands out for its authentic, family-friendly atmosphere. The Manigod ski resort is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters, just a few bends above Manigod Village, the main town. The Manigod ski area is the result of the merger of the Col de La Croix-Fry and the Col de Merdassier. It offers 25 km of pistes served by 17 lifts and is linked to the La Clusaz ski area, which has a total of 130 kilometers of pistes. Manigod is the largest night skiing area in Savoie Mont Blanc, where the pleasures of skiing continue into the early evening on 8 illuminated runs served by 4 lifts (every evening during school vacations).
The Paret is a small wooden sled mounted on an iron runner and equiped with a sloping board for sitting on a foot on each side and a vertical handle for steering. Easy to use and very light, it was traditionally used by children at the beginning of the last century to travel down snow-covered roads to the village school.
The chapel trail
The chapel circuit takes you on a lovely walk over several kilometers to discover the 6 most beautiful chapels in the village of Manigod: Villard-Dessous, Montpellaz, Plan des Berthats, Joux, Tournance and La Charmette. All maintained by the residents of the hamlet, they were built in the Baroque period to protect the inhabitants from the vagaries of the weather and natural disasters. Each one has an exterior information panel explaining its history. Thematic tours are organized every summer to discover the interiors and the richness of this heritage.
During your holiday in Manigod, one of the flagship activities is the Reblochon festival, where you can discover how Reblochon and Tomme cheese are made. You will receive detailed explanations about the life of a farmer in the village and on the mountain pastures during the summer, including watching the milking and cheese-making process. The highlight of the tour is tasting the farm's products over an open-air snack.
At the Col de la Croix Fry, the Beauregard Nordic ski area offers 30 kilometers of trails to experience the pleasures of a different kind of skiing in a magnificient and magical setting facing Mont Blanc. Whether you prefer skating or classic cross-country skiing, you can rent your equipment from the resort's stores before embarking on a distinctly sporty adventure.
