The Kandahar Men's Alpine Skiing World Cup will be back in Les Houches in 2020. After 4 years, the 20th edition of the legendary men's alpine ski race will see the world's elite skiers compete in two events: a Slalom and Parallel slalom!
Kandahar will take place on February 8th and 9th 2020 on the mythical "Verte" slope in Les Houches. A slope that is only green thanks to the many pines trees that grow on it, because "La Verte des Houches" is actually a 3 km 34 black slope with a height difference of 870 meters. Skiers start from the summit at 1871 metres and reach the heart of the resort at 1001 metres.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has placed Kandahar on the provisional calendar for a return to the Ski World Cup. Important work will be carried out to comply with the standards imposed by the FIS. The objective is to make the event sustainable so that it is regularly included in the World Cup calendar.
Kandahar has become the largest event in the Chamonix Valley and is one of the references, such as the downhill of Wengen in Switzerland and Kitzbuhel in Austria.
The World Cup is a good news for the resort, it’s an event broadcasted worldwide and more than 30,000 people are expected to cheer on the skiers.
A world-class skiing event that has become a must-see thanks to the cooperation of all the local players in the Chamonix Valley.
